Since launching it in November 2014, this website has always been a solo venture. During that time I’ve had numerous emails from people asking if they could write their own pieces for publication, and while it’s been very flattering to know that many of you are interested in contributing, I’ve always said no for various reasons. This has just been a place for me to post my own sporadic bits of football writing, really, and nothing more.
So I went to England vs. Portugal at Wembley yesterday. Before the game I was thinking about trying to find the time to do a proper analysis of it, seeing as, y’know, it was two pretty decent teams playing each other in their final match before Euro 2016. Afterwards, watching the game back isn’t really something that springs to mind as a hugely fun idea. And I’m sure anyone else who watched it will agree with me on that.
A couple of weeks ago I got an email from someone asking me about advertising for a company through my Twitter account. It wasn't an unusual inquiry in any way, even if it's not something that I've actually done before, just a fairly standard sort of thing that you might expect. Tweet a link for them and they’ll give you some money in return for doing so.
I went to The Emirates Cup in July during pre-season, but except for that I’ve never had the chance to go to Arsenal’s home ground for a game; so my trip to see them playing against West Brom last night was quite an enjoyable experience. It was very much a day of seconds for me, actually. My second time at The Emirates, my second Premier League game of the season (the first being West Ham vs. Aston Villa), and just like that other match this also ended up being my second 2-0 of the year. Alexis Sánchez scoring twice also fits nicely into that pattern.
So a week ago I asked people to submit their football-related questions to me for a Q&A type thing, and a number of you helped me by sending something in. I've filtered through them a little bit and picked out what I feel are the most interesting ones, then I've answered that selection of them below. Because y'know, it'd be a bit pointless if I didn't do that. Enjoy!
